Here's a couple of different pictures from the same group of flowers. I don't know what is was about the flowers this year. It's been really dry so I didn't expect much, but they were pretty amazing. Both pictures were taken at 1/30th of a second f13 ISO 400. I thought I'd share a couple more moose pictures. These were taken the day before the picture I posted most recently. They started on the side of the river I was on, but by the time I got my camera out and ready they were almost all the way across the river. That'a also why these pictures are backside shots. 1/60th at f8 ISO 100 300mmAnonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05805368537331894786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3147458700022415193.post-4125149975291098542012-08-11T17:20:00.001-06:002012-08-12T21:11:10.888-06:00Moose at Island Park<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Well I got away from my panorama/HDR fascination and broke out the 50-300mm zoom this week in Island Park, Idaho. There were a couple of moose that showed up a couple evenings in a row. Wild flowers are always easy to photograph in Island Park and July seems to be a great month to do it. I spent last week end working with the family to refinish the exterior of the cabin. It rained way to much and actually hindered the work, but then its nice to take pictures of flowers with fresh rain still on them. My visit to San Antonio was pretty educational. Visiting the Alamo was pretty interesting. A movie about the Alamo was one of my favorite when I was a kid. This was also my first time to Texas. This is a single shot handheld of the history library which is probably the newest addition to the Alamo site - built about 20 years ago. I thought it was very well done. 18mm 1/10th sec f11 ISO 200Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05805368537331894786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3147458700022415193.post-82603645275473266252012-07-06T19:43:00.001-06:002012-07-06T19:43:47.842-06:00Newport Beach<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Spent some time on the west coast and just could help taking pictures walking along the beach. I took lots of this kind of shots, just held the shutter release down and let the exposure pile up. Because the fourth of July is almost here I thought I post a couple of pictures of the World War II memorial in DC taken when I was there in May. This memorial was new to me and I've got so say it's pretty impressive. These are five shot HDRs. Want to spend an afternoon or more learning about and gaining an appreciation for our sailors? Take the tour of the Midway. I thought it was awesome. I went mainly to take pictures of airplanes. I had a chance last week to spend an evening with "public" architects from around the country in the National Botanical Garden. "Public" architects work for public entities including federal, state or local governments. Anyway, I have to admire the vision of our founding fathers. Not just for the founding of this country, but the capitol and all the awesome things that make up the city and all. The National Botanical Garden is the brain child of George Washington. I might mention that I had the opportunity to sit in a couple of session with the Architect of the Capitol and I met him at this function. That we pretty cool in my book. Well I've spent all kinds of time processing photos I took in DC last week. If you would like, check out what I've posted on Google+ or Flickr. I'll post a few here also. I was in DC this last week and worked my brain all day and my feet all night. These are two five shot HDR photos taken with in a few minutes of each other as I walked around the tidal basin at sunset. I finally got brave and carried my tripod on to the plane. I don't know why I was worried about it, it was no big deal. I did have to check a bag however as the tripod would make three carry ons.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05805368537331894786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3147458700022415193.post-6131206418599364562012-05-14T21:11:00.002-06:002012-05-14T21:11:52.098-06:00San Antonio<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I went to San Antonio last week for a class. Class got out early one day so we had a chance to run over and take a few pictures of the Alamo and read the history of the area - pretty fascinating. We also did the river walk a couple of times.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05805368537331894786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3147458700022415193.post-41445464164934535732012-05-02T20:04:00.000-06:002012-05-02T20:04:07.877-06:00Pelicans on Henry's<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Alright it's been way to long and I hate to admit that I've been a bit busy. This picture was taken in Island Park on Henry's Fork as we hiked down to Coffee Pot Rapids. This was shot at 300mm 400iso 180th of a second and f11. Tweaked just slightly in Lightroom.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05805368537331894786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3147458700022415193.post-42663501724442069202012-04-12T19:49:00.000-06:002012-04-12T19:49:01.023-06:00Columbia River at Sunset<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

OK, so I one set pictures on my last trip to Portland. Here it is a sunset looking out the restaurant window across the Columbia at sunset. 3 shot HDR taken with my camera mounted on my table top tripod.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05805368537331894786noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3147458700022415193.post-63696581072161361242012-04-01T20:21:00.000-06:002012-04-02T18:50:27.418-06:00Spring has sprung<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It's been a while since I posted so I decided I had to do something so I went out in the front yard and took a couple of pictures of the flower plumb. I didn't do any editing to this at all. I took them with my 50 mm macro lens 1/90 second at f11 ISO 200Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05805368537331894786noreply@blogger.com0
