Moose in Henry's Fork part II

I thought I'd share a couple more moose pictures.  These were taken the day before the picture I posted most recently.   They started on the side of the river I was on, but by the time I got my camera out and ready they were almost all the way across the river.  That'a also why these pictures are backside shots.  1/60th at f8 ISO 100 300mm

Moose at Island Park

Well I got away from my panorama/HDR fascination and broke out the 50-300mm zoom this week in Island Park, Idaho.  There were a couple of moose that showed up a couple evenings in a row.  This was shot the second evening just about a half and hour before sunset.  Shot at 1/90th, f8, ISO 400, 300 mm.

More Wild Flowers

Here's a nice grouping of flowers taken the same morning as my previous post.  This was also taken with my 50mm macro lens.  1/90th second f/13 ISO 400

Newport Beach

Spent some time on the west coast and just could help taking pictures walking along the beach.  I took lots of this kind of shots, just held the shutter release down and let the exposure pile up.  Maybe I should put some together in an avi file.

WW II

Because the fourth of July is almost here I thought I post a couple of pictures of the World War II memorial in DC taken when I was there in May.  This memorial was new to me and I've got so say it's pretty impressive.  These are five shot HDRs.  The sun is pretty much set when these were taken and the exposure times were pretty long .5 - .7 seconds for the short exposure and eight - ten seconds for the long exposures f8 at 400 ISO

Korean War Memorial

There were several new (to me) memorials in Washington DC when we visited.  These are five shot HDRs taken early in the evening on our tour of memorials one evening on our visit to DC.  I was drawn to this memorial for some reason.  It's pretty cool.

Multnomah Falls, Oregon part II

Here's the shot that every one that goes to Multmonah Falls takes.  This one with a bit of an HDR spin on it.

Multnomah Falls, Oregon

I went to Portland Oregon for Christmas and didn't get a lot of time to photo safari, but we made one trip to Multnomah Falls.  This is a 15 shot vertical HDR Panorama.  I've only had time to process three of the shots from that day I think this is my favorite so far.

Coffee Pot Rapids

I didn't get a chance to take many pictures in Boise over Thanksgiving so here's one I took July of 2009.  This is Henry's Fork in Island Park.  This rapids is fairly long this is just a little stretch of it.  To get the water silky I shot it at .3 seconds f16 55 mm ISO 100.

Looking for Fall part 2

On my search for what was left of the fall color tonight I found this little stream after taking a picture of the same scene from a different point of view.  A bit of a challenge climbing down to it, but worth while.  15 shot HDR.

Henry's Lake

While I was up in Island Park closing the cabin I captured this panorama.  I was with my brothers we were on our way back from West Yellowstone and these clouds got my attention.  My brothers were nice enough to let me take a couple of pans.  I like this one best.  It's a 25 shot (5 frames x 5 exposures) HDR.  There's is a bit of a streak of sunlight in the lens, but oh well.

Seattle Warf

While I was in Seattle this summer I got a chance to spend a little extra time with family.  We went to lunch and enjoyed this view from our table.  This was taken with my little travel tripod.  Its a 3 shot x 2 frame shot HDR panorama.

Fire and Water

There is all kinds of really fun art work around Vale.  This fountain featured fire and water.  I have no idea what it all means, but people seemed pretty fascinated by it.  I don't know if I was able to capture it very well but here's a single shot HDR.  Trying to put together with multiple exposures would not work because the flame gets lost.  This exposure was 1/8th second at f8 ISO 200 (1.5 stops underexposed).  In Lightroom I corrected the exposure and worked out the contrast.  Then into Photoshop for some HDR work.

Henry's Lake at Sunset

I shot three sunset panoramas in three different locations of Henry's Lake in Island Park.  This one's my favorite.  The real challenge was to get to all the places I wanted to take pictures before the light was gone.  This is the last site so the sun was completely gone but there was still some nice light.  I shot this on Manual so that the exposure range wouldn't change as the light changed in each frame.  Each frame was a five time at differing exposures, HDRed in Photomatix and stitched in Photoshop.

Playing With Water

Just in case you haven't been wet enough - people take a chance to play in the water when it's not raining.  I'm pretty sure I saw webbed feet on some of these kids.  This is a five shot HDR

Shoshone Falls 3

Here's the last of the Shoshone Falls panoramas.  I way over did the HDR (on purpose of course).  The panorama is made up of only 20 pictures (4 pan frames x 5 exposures each) and is only 277 Mb.  I think it's the best of the three panoramas of the falls.  By the way the little building on the left at the bottom of the falls is the power plant.

Shoshone Falls

One of my favorite places is Shoshone Falls on the Snake River near Twin Falls, Idaho.  On our way home from Boise last week end we stopped.  This time of year the water is roaring over the falls.  This picture is made up of 50 pictures.  I HDRed together 10 pan shots, each HDR is made up of 5 shots.  I took the houses and etc in the background out of the picture.   I don't know why anyone would let people build houses on the precipice of the falls, but I guess it's a free country.  As a side bar my computer has nine gigabytes of RAM.  I used 7.5 while processing the stitching in Photoshop.  The picture is a 325Mb tiff.  I've reduced it to a 145Kb jpg for your viewing pleasure.
